About me
The beginnings
More than 20 years ago, I was educated in analogue photography the old-school way, being part of a group of enthusiasts working on black & white projects. It was an invaluable experience to learn carrying out every step from taking a picture to developing the negative film and to finally producing the print on photographic paper.
My passion
My passion for landscape photography really got ignited when I went on my first dedicated photography trip to the amazing National Parks of the American Southwest. Since then I have travelled to the most awe-inspiring places all over the globe. Combining travel and photography enables me to constantly view the world from different angles, enjoy the experience of being out there in nature even more and bring home impressions and emotions from the most amazing places.
My philosophy
Images are created as visions in the mind. Subject, composition, weather, light, camera, lenses, exposure settings, photographic or digital processing, papers & frames – all these factors influence the final product and they need to be creatively combined in order to realize that initial vision.
I seek to create compositions which are eye-catching at first and draw the viewer’s attention straight away. I strive to be in the right place at the right time to get the most suitable light conditions for each scene in the quest to accentuate the landscape’s true character. The viewers are invited to explore the images, discover details, sense and relive the emotions that I had while taking the photograph and come to their own interpretation of what the image means to them.
